Meet customs experts from around the world! Authors who contribute content to the CustomsClear platform are invited to meet in bi-monthly Authors’ Meetings and exchange views on a specific topic.
During the meetings, participants are invited to give 5-minute presentations on the topic. Discussions and questions are welcome at any time. After the meeting, an overview is published in the Customs Compliance & Risk Management journal.
Upcoming meeting
Topic ‘Trusted traders (e.g. AEO) – new trends and developments’. The meeting will take place on 9th January 2025, 15:00 CET.
The topic of ‘trusted traders’ is relevant for various reasons, to name but a few:
- The number of suspensions and revocations of AEO status is increasing. The increasing legal complexity makes it more difficult for AEO and similar status holders to fulfil the criteria such as ‘no serious infringements’ or ‘repeated infringements’. Compliance management has become very difficult even for resourceful large companies. If the status is suspended, the associated authorisations are also suspended. This can pose an existential threat to businesses.
- Trusted traders enjoy advantages in the UK and could face similar challenges.
- Trust and check trader status in the light of the EU Customs Reform.
